Priority claims are considered unique under bankruptcy law. They include the costs of filing for bankruptcy and some taxes. Priority claims must be fully paid unless you have agreed otherwise with the creditors. Secured claims are those debts where you put an asset as collateral. Therefore, the creditor can take the collateral asset if the debt remains unpaid.
Unsecured claims are those debts that you did not need collateral to take. So, even if the debts remain unpaid, the creditor has no right to take any assets to recover the debt. Unsecured claims can be partially paid, provided the disposable income is paid throughout the applicable commitment period.
